For more than 20 years, PDI has been working with industry practitioners like you - or those new to financial planning - providing a Dallas- area CFP Board-registered program designed to prepare you for the demands of the profession as well as the CFP® Certification Examination.
PDI's program offers flexibility. With the convenience of weekend-only classes, you'll be eligible to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination in less than a year! Our instructors are at the top of the financial planning profession - part of the reason PDI's Financial Planning Certification Program maintains an above average pass rate of 70% on the CFP® Certification Examination.
So if you are thinking of a rewarding career as a financial planner - spending time with people, understanding their financial position and helping them realize their goals through a carefully devised strategy - call PDI now and set your sights on achieving the coveted CFP® certification.

Students seeking to satisfy the education requirement at PDI have the option of enrolling in new programs beginning every February. The entire program covers a 10-month period. This program is designed for the busy professional who must meet professional and personal demands. Some of the benefits of the financial planning program include:
- Weekends-only classes which are scheduled only 9 of the 19 weekends in the first session
and 8 of 18 weekends in the second session. In total, participants meet only 17 of the 44 weekends
over the program.
- No back-to-back weekends; attend class approximately every second or third weekend (on a rare occasion, a back-to-back weekend may be scheduled to accommodate a national holiday)
- Classes meet Friday night 6-10 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-12 Noon, and Saturday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. There are no Sunday classes.
- The program is divided into two distinct sections. They are:
Session I- Investments; Risk Management & Insurance; Income Taxation
Session II- Case Studies in Financial Planning; Trusts & Estates; Retirement & Employee Benefits
- Program participants receive a guarantee if they are unsuccessful in their first attempt at passing the CFP® Certification Examination. Past participants may audit each course once at no cost. Requirements of this guarantee include:
Participant must sit for, but not pass, the 10-hour CFP® Certification Examination.
All audited courses must commence within one year of completing PDI’s registered program.
Students must purchase new editions of any textbooks from PDI for $140 each.
- In order to earn a Certificate of Eligibility, participants must complete the course with a cumulative B average for all classes. This is a graded program with mid-term quizzes and a final exam because many participants, for employer reimbursement of tuition, require a letter grade. Quizzes give students and our instructors feedback on students’ progress. Quizzes give students an incentive to keep up with the material. A graded program allows the program directors to certify to CFP Board that our students are truly qualified to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination
- CPAs may earn continuing education credits.
- While there are a wide variety of calculators offered on the market, PDI instructors teach from a Hewlett-Packard 12C Business Calculator. This is not an endorsement of the calculator. Rather, it has been chosen because it is easy to use and has been adopted by many users in academia and industry.
